PropsLab Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 7, 2026
This policy explains what the PropsLab iPhone app and the PropsLab service at api.propslab.io collect, why, who else handles it, what other PropsLab users can see, and how to delete it. PropsLab is operated by Propslab LLC, a California limited liability company (the “Company”, “PropsLab”, “we”, “us”), which is the party responsible for the information this policy describes.
The short version
- Updated October 7, 2026: the operator is Propslab LLC. What we collect and share did not change.
- We collect what you give us (your email, password, profile, paper slips, calls and chat messages) and a small amount of technical data, such as your IP address and app version in our server logs.
- New accounts appear on Rankings by default, so other PropsLab users can see your paper record. Turn it off in Settings > Show me in Rankings.
- Before a chat message posts, an AI moderation service normally checks it. We send it the message text and nothing that identifies you.
- If you allow notifications, we keep your iPhone’s device token and time zone so we can send the notifications you choose. Turn each one off in Settings > Notifications in the app.
- Scouting is off unless you turn it on. If you turn on Open to scouting in Settings and agree, we share your email address and paper record with the partners named on that screen (today, only PropsLab) so they can contact you. Turning it off stops future sharing.
- We do not sell your personal information. PropsLab shows no ads, contains no analytics or advertising tools, and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
- You can delete your account at any time, in the app in Settings > Delete Account, or by email.
1. What we collect, by feature
Account
To create an account you give us your email address, a password and, if you choose, a name. We store the email as your sign-in identifier and the password only as a bcrypt hash, never in readable form. The name becomes your display name. We also record when the account was created. Sign-in is by email and password only.
Profile
You can set a display name (up to 40 characters), an @username (3 to 20 letters, numbers or underscores), an avatar and a bio (up to 200 characters). An avatar is an emoji and a color you pick.
Paper slips and bankroll
When you build a paper slip we store its legs (player or team, market, line, side and price), your virtual stake, an optional title, a copy of the analysis as it stood when you placed it, and the result once it is graded. We also store your virtual bankroll and unit size, and compute totals such as wins, losses and profit or loss from your slips. All amounts are virtual money.
Your calls
When you make your own call on a game or player, we store the call with a copy of the model’s numbers at that moment and whether you agreed with the model, then grade it so the app can show your record.
Tennis analyses you open
When you open a tennis match analysis, we record that it was shown to your account, together with the match, the market and the model and market numbers shown. We use this record to measure how the model’s probabilities compare with results.
Live rooms and chat
We store the messages and replies you post (up to 280 characters each), your reactions, slip legs you choose to share to a room, messages you report and users you block. While you are in a room, a typing or presence indicator linked to your chat handle is kept for about two minutes at most. Text you have typed but not sent stays on your phone.
Moderation. Before a message posts, its text is checked by our link and blocked-word filters and then, when it is available, by an AI moderation service (section 4). The first time a message is reported, the AI moderation service reviews it too. If a message is blocked before it posts, we do not store its text. If the AI moderation service finds that a message you wrote breaks the chat rules, before it posts or after a report, we record that it did: your account, the message if it was posted, whether it was caught before posting or after a report, which rule it broke, and the time. We use these records to apply the posting limit for repeated violations described in the Terms of Use, and our administrators can review them.
Subscriptions
A subscription is required to use PropsLab, and Apple handles payment. The app sends us the signed transaction Apple gives it, for example when you subscribe or restore a purchase. We check Apple’s signature and keep the product, Apple’s original transaction number, whether the subscription is active and when it expires. We do not receive or store your payment card details, and we do not store your Apple ID.
Deep analysis
When you open a deep analysis, we use your account to apply per-account usage limits. Your account number may appear in a server log line if a deep analysis is refused because the service’s daily budget is used up. For deep analysis, we send Anthropic nothing about you (see section 4).
Support emails
If you email support@propslab.io, we receive your email address and whatever you write or attach. If you use Contact Support in the app, the email is pre-filled with your app version, build number, iOS version and device model. You can edit or remove them before you send it.
Technical data
- Server access logs record each request’s IP address, time, address requested, response and User-Agent. For this app the User-Agent names the app build and the iOS system version.
- Application logs record your account number next to a few events, such as a subscription being verified, a deep analysis being refused because the service’s daily budget is used up, or a chat message you wrote being found to break the chat rules. They do not record your email address.
- Abuse protection. To slow down repeated sign-in attempts, the server briefly counts requests by IP address and by the email address entered. These counters are held in memory only and are not saved.
Notifications
PropsLab sends two kinds of notifications, and only if you allow notifications for the app on your iPhone. Findings are live comes once a day, when that day’s Professor’s Findings are published. New games to analyze comes at most once a day for each sport you follow, when that sport has games that were not on the Board before.
If you allow notifications, iOS gives the app a device token, an identifier Apple uses to deliver notifications to your iPhone. The app sends it to us, and we store with your account: the device token; which of Apple’s two notification environments it belongs to (development builds of the app use one, the App Store and TestFlight the other); your iPhone’s time zone; and the app version. We use the time zone only for the timing of new-games notifications: never before 8:00 a.m. or from 10:00 p.m. your time, and at most once a day for each sport, counted by your calendar day. We also store your notification settings (whether Findings are live is on, and which sports you follow) and a record of each notification we send you: which kind, the sport, the day, when it was sent, how many of your devices it was sent to, and its text.
Apple delivers the notifications, through the Apple Push Notification service. For each notification we send Apple the device token and the notification itself, and nothing else about you.
To turn one off: in PropsLab, open Settings (the gear on the Home screen) and, under Notifications, turn off Findings are live or remove a sport from Sports I follow. To turn them all off: iPhone Settings > Notifications > PropsLab. When you sign out, the app tells us to stop sending to that iPhone. Deleting your account deletes your device tokens, notification settings and notification records.
Scouting (opt-in)
Scouting is off unless you turn it on, and nothing is shared until you agree. To turn it on, open Settings (the gear on the Home screen) and, under Privacy, turn on Open to scouting. The app then shows you what will be shared and the current list of partners, and shares nothing unless you tap Yes, share my email. Not now leaves it off.
What is shared: your email address and your PropsLab record: your display name, your @username, your record (wins, losses and pushes), win rate and profit or loss across all your settled paper slips, and your paper bankroll (all virtual amounts). Nothing else is shared: not your password, avatar, bio, calls, chat messages, subscription status or device details.
With whom: only the partners named on that screen when you agreed. Today the only partner is PropsLab itself. We share your information so that partners can contact you directly, by email, about opportunities. The PropsLab app and our servers do not send these emails.
New partners: your agreement covers only the partners it named. If the list of partners changes, the app shows you the new list and asks you again. Until you agree to the new list, we share only with partners you already agreed to.
How it is shared: a partner receives a list of the people who agreed to share with that partner and have not turned scouting off, with the information above. Today PropsLab’s operator produces that list from our server. Each time a list is produced, we log who produced it, when, for which partner and how many people were on it, but not who they were.
Separate from Rankings: scouting applies even if you hide yourself from Rankings, and turning off Show me in Rankings does not turn off scouting.
To turn it off: in Settings, under Privacy, turn off Open to scouting. That stops future sharing right away: you are left off every list produced after that. A partner that already received your email address and record may keep them, and we cannot take them back.
What we keep: a record of each time you turn scouting on or off: when, the version of the consent text, the partners it named and, if the app sends it, the app version. We keep it until you delete your account.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your location, and we do not look up where you are from your IP address. The app does not access your contacts, photos, camera or microphone, does not use Apple’s advertising identifier, and does not ask for your date of birth. We do not collect sportsbook account details or real-money betting activity.
2. How we use it
- To run PropsLab: sign you in, show your slips, bankroll, calls and record, grade results, and run live rooms.
- To show Rankings, unless you turn it off.
- To keep chat safe: link and blocked-word filters, AI moderation of messages before they post and of reported messages, rate limits, reports, blocks, and a temporary posting limit after repeated violations.
- To record your subscription status from Apple.
- To send the notifications you allow: Findings are live, and new games for the sports you follow.
- To share your email address and PropsLab record with the partners you agree to, only if you turn on Open to scouting.
- To measure how well the model’s probabilities match outcomes.
- To answer your support requests.
- To keep the service secure, find and fix problems, and comply with the law.
We do not use your information for advertising.
3. What other PropsLab users can see
Rankings: on by default for new accounts
For a new account, your Rankings row is visible to other PropsLab users by default, once you have at least one settled paper slip. An account created while Rankings was opt-in keeps the Rankings setting it had. Other signed-in PropsLab users can see your row, which shows:
- your display name, @username and avatar;
- your paper record: rank, number of slips, wins, losses and pushes, win rate, profit or loss, total staked, return on stake, current bankroll and best streak (all virtual amounts).
The data the app receives for your row also includes an internal account number. Rankings is visible inside the app to signed-in users. It is not published on the open web.
To turn it off: in PropsLab, open Settings (the gear on the Home screen) and turn off Show me in Rankings. Other users stop seeing your row as soon as the change is saved. You can still see your own record, and you can turn it back on at any time.
Live rooms and chat
- You appear under a generated handle (for example “Cobalt Prism #4821”), not your display name or @username. The same handle is used in every room, so other users can recognize your messages across rooms. It is not shown on Rankings, but it is linked to your account in our systems.
- Open positions are shown. If you have an open paper position on a game, each of your messages in that game’s room shows the side you took and your virtual stake. This happens whether or not you appear on Rankings.
- If you share a slip leg to a room, others see its player, market, line, side, price, and the model and market numbers, but not your stake.
- Messages stay readable by signed-in users after the game ends.
- You cannot delete a single message. Your messages are deleted when you delete your account.
Never shown to other users
Your email address, password, bio, calls, subscription status and moderation records are not shown to other users. If you turn on Open to scouting, your email address is shared with the partners you agreed to, not shown in the app (see Scouting, in section 1).
4. Who else handles your information
We use these service providers to run PropsLab:
- DigitalOcean hosts our servers, database and backups, in the United States.
- Apple runs the App Store and in-app purchases, and delivers PropsLab’s notifications (we send Apple the device token and the notification). Apple’s privacy policy covers what Apple collects.
- Google (Google Workspace) hosts the support@propslab.io mailbox, so it holds the emails you send us.
- Anthropic provides the AI models that check chat messages and draft deep analysis text.
- Chat moderation. We send Anthropic the text of each chat message that passes our link and blocked-word filters, before it posts, and the text of a message the first time someone reports it, together with our chat rules. We do not send your name, email address, account number, @username, chat handle or anything else that identifies you. Anthropic does receive whatever you wrote in the message itself, and processes it under Anthropic’s commercial terms, which govern how long Anthropic keeps it.
- Deep analysis. We send sports data and our model’s numbers for the game or player you selected, and nothing about you. The finished text is cached for up to 6 hours and shown to anyone who opens the same analysis.
How these providers must treat it. DigitalOcean, Google and Anthropic each process information for us under a data processing agreement: they may use it only to provide their service to us, must keep it confidential, must protect it with technical and organizational security measures, and must hold any subcontractor of theirs to obligations substantially as protective as their own. We have reviewed those contracts and consider the protection they require equal to what this policy promises. Anthropic’s commercial terms also say it does not train its models on what we send. Apple handles purchases and notification delivery under Apple’s own terms and privacy policy.
Partners receive your email address and PropsLab record only if you turn on Open to scouting and agree to share with them (see Scouting, in section 1). Today the only partner is PropsLab itself, so no other company receives them.
Sports data providers receive no personal information from us. Our servers request statistics, schedules, injury reports and prices from sports data providers. Those requests contain only sports identifiers, such as a match, team or player, and never your identity.
Image servers. When the app shows team logos and player photos, your phone loads those images directly from ESPN’s, the NFL’s, the NBA’s, the WNBA’s and MLB’s image servers (a.espncdn.com for team logos; static.www.nfl.com, cdn.nba.com and cdn.wnba.com for player photos; img.mlbstatic.com and midfield.mlbstatic.com for MLB team logos and player photos, including in live game rooms). Like any server, they receive your device’s IP address and User-Agent with each image request, and their own privacy policies apply. We send them no account information. Our own servers also send requests to img.mlbstatic.com to pre-load MLB player photos; those requests carry a player identifier and our server’s address, never anything about you.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public or PropsLab, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy continues to apply to it.
5. No sale of personal information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising. PropsLab shows no ads. Scouting shares your information only if you choose to turn it on, and today the only partner is PropsLab itself: no other company receives your information through scouting, and no one pays us for it.
6. Tracking
PropsLab does not track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. The app contains no advertising or analytics software from other companies, does not use Apple’s advertising identifier, and does not use cookies. Because it does not track you, the app does not show Apple’s tracking permission prompt. If you have chosen in iOS settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may give us crash reports and usage statistics under Apple’s terms.
7. How long we keep it
- Account, profile, paper slips, bankroll, calls and subscription record: until you delete your account.
- Chat messages, replies, reactions, reports and blocks: until you delete your account. There is no time limit, and hidden messages are kept, not erased.
- Moderation records of messages that broke the chat rules: until you delete your account. We do not store the text of a message blocked before it posts (section 4 covers what Anthropic receives).
- Device tokens, notification settings and notification records: until you delete your account. A device token you sign out from, or that Apple tells us no longer works, is switched off and kept until then.
- Scouting choices (each time you turned Open to scouting on or off): until you delete your account.
- Tennis analysis records: kept after your account is deleted, with your account removed from them.
- Application logs with your account number: 14 days in our daily log files. The server also keeps a second copy in its container log, which is overwritten as newer entries fill a fixed-size log and is deleted when we redeploy the server. That copy has no fixed time limit.
- Server access logs with IP addresses and User-Agents: overwritten as newer entries fill a fixed-size log. There is no fixed time limit, so how long an entry lasts depends on traffic.
- Database backups: normally replaced within about five weeks.
- Support emails: as long as we need them to help you and to keep a record of the conversation. We delete them if you ask us to.
8. Deleting your account
In the app: open Settings (the gear on the Home screen), tap Delete Account and confirm. You are signed out when it finishes. By email: write to support@propslab.io from the address on your account.
Deleting your account removes, right away:
- your account, email address and password hash;
- your profile: display name, @username, avatar and bio;
- your paper slips and their legs, and your bankroll;
- your calls;
- the chat messages you wrote, with the reactions and reports on them, and the reactions, reports and blocks you made;
- our moderation records of your messages that broke the chat rules;
- our record of your subscription;
- your device tokens, notification settings and the record of notifications we sent you;
- your scouting choices, so you are left off every scouting list produced after that.
Your Rankings row disappears with your account, and every sign-in token for the account stops working.
What deletion does not remove:
- Tennis analyses you opened stay in our records with your account removed from them.
- Your chat handle stays on replies other people wrote to your messages, shown as the name they replied to.
- Backups keep a copy of your data until they are replaced, normally within about five weeks.
- Logs keep your account number for up to 14 days in our daily log files, and in the server’s container log until it is overwritten or the server is redeployed. They keep your IP address until the access log is overwritten.
- An iPhone you did not delete from, such as a second iPhone signed in to the account, or yours if you asked us by email, keeps your recent analyses, drafts and alerts (see section 9) until it is signed out or you delete the app. The iPhone you delete your account from removes them when the deletion finishes.
- A scouting partner that already received your email address and record may keep them.
- Apple keeps its own purchase records.
Deleting your account does not cancel Apple billing. Cancel your subscription in your Apple ID subscription settings: on your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions.
9. Security
The app talks to our servers only over HTTPS. Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes. Sign-in tokens expire: an access token after 30 minutes, and a refresh token after 30 days, with a new refresh token issued each time one is used. The app keeps its sign-in tokens in your iPhone’s Keychain, and signing out removes them. The app also saves on your iPhone your recent analyses, what you entered on the Analyze screen, your unsent slip draft (including its note), and the alerts you set up or are writing. Signing out, or deleting your account in the app, removes these from your iPhone. No system is perfectly secure. If you think someone has used your account, email support@propslab.io.
10. Children
PropsLab is only for people who are at least 18 years old. When you create an account, you confirm that you are 18 or older. PropsLab is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, including children under 13. If you believe someone under 18 has an account, email support@propslab.io and we will delete it.
11. Your choices and rights
- Access. Email us to ask for a copy of the personal information in your account.
- Correction. Edit your display name, @username, avatar and bio in the app. For anything else, such as your email address, email us.
- Deletion. Delete your account in Settings > Delete Account, or email us.
- Rankings. Turn off Settings > Show me in Rankings.
- Notifications. Turn one off in Settings > Notifications in the app, or all of them in iPhone Settings > Notifications > PropsLab.
- Scouting. It is off unless you turned it on. Turn off Open to scouting in Settings, under Privacy.
Send requests to support@propslab.io from the email address on your account, so we can confirm the request is yours. Depending on where you live, you may have other rights under local law; email us to use them. We will not treat you differently for using any of these rights.
12. Where your information is processed
PropsLab’s servers are in the United States. If you use PropsLab from another country, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. When we do, we will post the new version at this address and change the “Last updated” date. If a change is significant, we may also tell you in the app.
14. Contact
PropsLab is operated by Propslab LLC. Questions about this policy, and requests about your information, go to support@propslab.io.
